1. What is Agri business?

Every company that is doing business transactions with farmers come under the agri business sector. These transactions may be either in the form of products or even services. Similarly suggestions for agriculture, seeds, pesticides, supplying agriculture equipment all come under agri business. In the same way providing loans to agriculture, agriculture insurance, stocking agri products, transportation, packing, processing, and distribution also come under the same sector. To summarize, right from investment for agri production till marketing the products all the stages put together is called agri business. There is indeed a correlation between production of the crop, processing, marketing and transportation. However in developing countries like India agri business can be divided into to four major semi-sectors like investment, production, processing and marketing plus transportation. The success of these sectors is more or less interrelated. Utilizing advanced technology to enhance agriculture production and adding management values for better revenues is what successful agri business is all about.

2. What is the Role of Agribusiness Managers?

Agribusiness Managers have a big role to play in Indian economy as agriculture is a main part of Indian economy. Agribusiness Management is application of Management principles for Food and Agriculture ecosystem. Indian agriculture is rapidly changing due to globalisation, competitive environment and changing role of government. It was found that fresh agricultural graduates were facing problems as managers in agri-business firms. This became need for properly designed special management programmes.

The work of agri-business managers is to contribute substantially to the development of diverse activities in this sector.

3. What are the Job opportunities in Agri-Business Management ecosystem?

Those who have successfully completed the PGDM-ABM program from FABS can join in the warehousing, retail, seeds companies, fertilizers and pesticides companies, banks and insurance sectors. Those who have good potential can find excellent growth in these industries. They can join management experts in the agriculture related industries, policy makers in financial industries, teaching as well as in research fields. They can also look for a career in agriculture consultancy, journalism, agri banking, hi-tech farming and agriculture engineering sectors.

4. Does FABS-SGI have any approval?

Yes,  FABS is part of SGI. The PGDM-ABM program of SGI is approved by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education), Govt of India, Ministry of HRD.

5. What is the eligibility criteria to get admission into FABS?

Minimum qualification for admission to the PGDM – Agri Business Management program is UGC/ICAR recognized graduation, in any discipline with a minimum OGPA of 5.00 out of 10.00 or 50% aggregate marks or their equivalents. Final year students can also apply.

6. Is there any age limit to join FABS?

There is no age limit.

7. What is the admission process for the PGDM - Agri Business Management process?

Selection for PGDM – Agri Business Management is a two – stage process.

Stage1: FABS admission test will be conducted either online or offline.

Stage2: Candidates who have cleared the FABS admission test will have to appear for a personal or phonical interview after paying Rs 500 for application form.

Final selection will be based on the combined scores in the FABS admission test, interview and the score in either of the National Management Education entrance examinations mentioned below.

    a)   Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by IIMs
    b)   MAT
    c)   CMAT
    d)   ATMA
    e)   GMAT
    f)    XMAT conducted by XLRI,Jamshedpur

The student will have to submit the registration number, scorecard and application form of the above six examinations during the time of confirming the admission.

8. Is there any reservation?

There is no reservation policy. Admission is only through Merit basis.

9. What is course structure of PGDM - ABM?

PGDM – Agri Business Management is a two year program. In each Academic Year there are three trimesters with a duration of 10 to 12 weeks each. After the first three trimesters there is Management Internship Project for 45 to 60 days.

The whole programme consists of 3 sets of courses: 

1) The Core Mangement Courses

2) Agricultural Business Courses

3) Specialization streams.

10. What is the procedure to apply for FABS?

11. What are the specializations that you provide in FABS?

We are providing five Specializations in the areas of  Food, Agriculture, Marketing, Finance & Human Resource.

12. There Is any hostel facility at campus?

We have a hygienic hostel facility separately for boys and girls in the campus, with single occupancy rooms, double occupancy, with common meeting & recreation rooms, Gymnasium.

13. Do you provide or help in getting the bank loan facility?

Yes.

We have a tie up with ICICI bank. If you want to apply in other banks we provide required documents which are necessary for a Education loan.

14. What is FABS Placement record?

FABS provides 100% placement support. Till date we have consistently maintained a very good record with regard to placements.

15. Do you provide distance learning programme for ABM at FABS?

No. We do not provide distance learning programme for Agri Business Management.
